This quote has a permanent, prominent spot in my studio.Sometimes, one little thing begets another, much like mark making. Or…I signed up for a show that was happening in December 2024, which begat much thinking about the direction of art, and the needs…what were my needs in this ever expanding universe of darkness and conflict we live in? Much looking and thinking segued into rearranging my brain to refocus on things that were more positive. The show theme, “Positive Space” came out of a contrast with the term negative space, and resulted in more color, more spontaneity, more freedom. More light.
With that (successful) show complete, I am keeping that momentum with a jumpstarting of my newsletter. This coincides with exasperation with all things social, as in social media (which I have nicknamed S&M.) One should not have to promote art by forcing readers/followers to endure the abuse of using social media. And so here we are, with a different vehicle.
I hope this is appealing enough to work, and time will tell.
